I apologize for signing up for tables ahead of time, I was under the impression that as soon as tables had gone public that was okay.

That said, this seating is a very difficult optimization problem for Simon both because everyone is bringing multiple constraints ("sit with X, play Y before Z, only tier P and Q") and many of these constraints were not known to Simon beforehand. He can't decode from your signups that you joining table 1 was because you wanted to be seated with those players, and table 2 because that was the only adventure in your level range at that time.

So he did the reasonable thing: make legal tables that satisfy the constraints he did know about: making legal tables and avoiding GMs playing stuff they'd just ran themselves (because metagame knowledge is both annoying for the ex-GM and everyone else).

Then you have a legal starting situation and people can try to move about as long as they don't make the table they're leaving illegal. It's not the most elegant solution, but the best available one.

For the next time, maybe it would be good to also circulate a spreadsheet wherein people can register the tiers they can/prefer to play, so that it's possible to take into account people with very limited options, like only having a L2 PC when that lets you into only 2/5 scenarios on offer.

From that on I have assigned the GMs to scenarios where they were not playing. Because we cannot expect GMs to GM a scenario and also have to play it in one weekend. :)

Then I had to make sure that all tables were legal, keeping in mind as much as i could to apply players to sessions that they have valid characters in.

People signing in on sessions once i made them on Warhorn was not really fair, because I did ask for people to not sign up yet. Unfortunately some people did still assign themselves to certain slots. I tried to keep those signups in mind as well, but the puzzle became more and more confusing.

So where we are right now is the absolute best I could do. This does not mean you cannot swap tables, but you will have to do so at your own initiative.

I would also ask that you do not move away from tables if that makes them illegal. We offer 5 scenarios over 4 tables and it is pretty hard to move someone and still remain legal.

Of course I am very open to hearing how people would do it differently in the future.

Oh and Manon, that is a shame I would have loved to have you around a bit more. Anything I can try to accomodate to get you to stick around a bit more?

    My ideal situation would be first the 2 lvl 1-5 scenarios and then the 3-7 either on friday/ saturday or saturday/sunday... I don't think that will be possible now, at least not when I also want to play with certain other players.

    I do understand why this was done, I still like to play and thank the hosts for their hospitality. :)
