Sounds like a good way to handle it. Keeping it in a public place for now, will allow you to attrackt players by more then worth of mouth alone. Its way more inviting to join a game at a game store then to go to a strangers house.
-- If it becomes a problem, you can always relocate later.
As adviced, stick to season one for now. A lot of those run short. Season 0 does too, but you will need to do the conversion from 3.5 to pathfinder yourself.
