I should add: these "faction boons" (as they're commonly called) are usually nice but not so powerful that you absolutely must have them.

There are some however that accumulate: in season 5 for example the Taldor (now Sovereign Court) faction is trying to raise an army, and there are various adventures where you recruit people for that army. When you play the adventure where you actually deploy those troops you get to show off all the chronicle sheets where you earned the appropriate boons, and it helps you in that scenario.

Characters from those factions can often do a little extra and get an extra boon on their sheets that's specific to their faction, because they helped their faction along.
